In the back room of the library, Kathi Knop examines her work. Stacks of books lay in front of the librarian, clothed in brown wrapping paper and tied with twine. “Music, mystery, 18th century” one reads. “Teen, romance, female lead” says another. No title, no author, just descriptions.

“Say students need a free read, and they want to read about violence, bullying or crime scenes,” Knop said. “[They] can come in, check out the book, but they cannot open it up while they’re in the library– they have to wait.”

Throughout the month of February, students can check out a book based on their interests, not by its appearance.

“Really it’s about not judging a book by it’s cover, because you don’t know the cover, but you know what its about,” Knop said.
