Girls’ Basketball
Girls’ varsity hasn’t won a game since the Jan. 9 game at SM North, which is their only win of the season. They lost two last week to SM West, 37-26, and Olathe North, 44-31. A torn ACL has been confirmed for sophomore Kyle Haverty, which means she’s out for the season. This will put even more pressure on the Lancers to pull out a few more wins while relying on sophomore Josie Clough to run the point. The team’s next game is at home this Tuesday against SM South, who beat the Lancers earlier in the season.
Boys’ Basketball
Varsity basketball tried to bounce back the week after a 26 point loss to Rockhurst when they played at Olathe North on Friday. The game remained close until the final minutes when the Eagles pulled away for the 51-43 victory.
Two teams with .500 records face off on Tuesday when the Lancers host Olathe South. East plays another home game on Friday against SM South with the presentation of the Sweetheart nominees at halftime.
Boys’ Wrestling
At the district duals on friday at SM West, the varsity wrestling squad went 1-3 against the district, with their only win coming against West in a blowout victory with a final score of 54-6. Senior Marshall Green and Juniors Michael Aldrich and Mike Bamford went undefeated that Friday night. This upcoming Saturday, at Leavenworth High School, the Lancer wrestling squad will go against the entire Sunflower league in one last tournament before the wrestling regionals.
