Winter Sports Update

Girls Basketball

Girls Varsity lost on Friday to SM West. Starting PG Kyle Haverty left the game with a knee injury, and did not return. She is questionable for the game Tuesday against SM South. Both JV and Varsity will play Tuesday at SM South.

Boys Basketball

The Lancers showed improvement from earlier this year during Friday’s 60-56 win over SM West. The game gave East redemption after they fell to the Vikings in an early season tournament this December. The Lancers will travel to McPherson on Thursday for their opener of the annual McPherson Invitational.

Boys Swimming

The boys swim team has a huge meet tomorrow against Blue Valley North. The team has been preparing for this meet for weeks and hope to come out strong and win. After the meet against BVN, the team is looking forward to the Topeka Invitational.

Bowling

Last week, the team had its first two meets. Both the boys and girls squads took second in the first meet, and first in the second meet, with senior Annika Sink winning the second meet overall for the girls. This week, the teams travel to Lawrence to take on Lawrence High School and Shawnee Mission South.

Wrestling

The wrestling team competed in the East Kansas duels last Saturday, which they finished third out of six teams. The varsity squad had four falls in the duel, highlighted by a pin in the first 51 seconds of the match by Sachary Ortiz. On Thursday, Jan. 22, wrestling will be hosting a JV and Varsity dual against Hutchison. Saturday the Varsity squad will compete in the Paola tournament at Paola High school.
