Wrestling

The wrestling season is getting underway, starting with three-hour practices every day after school. The new head coach, Lucas Baker, is having these practices to get the wrestlers back in shape for the season. The main goal for this season outside of competition is to keep every wrestler free of skin diseases from the wrestling mats.

Bowling

Bowling tryouts will be held after Thanksgiving Break. They are taking place December 3rd and 4th. One bowler has a goal for the season. Senior Derek Hilliard hopes to make varsity, which would be an improvement from last year. The team goal is to go to state.

Boys’ Swimming

Practices have started and swimmers are starting to get back in shape. JV holds practices for a little more than an hour while varsity practices for three hours.  The team looks to go back-to-back and win another state championship this year.

Girls’ Basketball

After three days of tryouts the teams were posted the night they ended. Practice begins Thursday, Nov. 19th after school. Sophomore Toni Englund and first-time varsity player is excited for the season. After not trying out last year and making Varsity this year she doesn’t know what to expect but hopes it’s exciting. The team is looking to bounce back this season after last seasons disappointing record.

Boys’ Basketball

The basketball team just concluded tryouts. Head Coach Shawn Hair had lots of praise for this years’ team.

“It’s the best day of tryouts I’ve seen in my 20 years here coaching at East.”

The boys are starting practice today despite not knowing what teams they made. This is their first practice on the regular season schedule.
