This year’s spring show is a modernized version of a play that is about a corrupt Russian town that receives word of a government agent coming to investigate. The city tries to clean up the community and mistakenly identifies a regular out-of-luck guy as the inspector.
The town goes beyond expectations to please this “inspector” and many amusing situations occur with a crazy twist at the end. This comedy is filled with rapid dialogue by Jeffery Hatcher.
“Even after several weeks of rehearsing, this production is still extremely funny,” said senior Jack Dee, the Student Director.
This production is different from the others because of its smaller cast size and shorter script.
The members of the production have been rehearsing for around six weeks, which is short time frame for normal productions. In practice, they will run through scenes by line memorization and marking tempos.
“Working with the cast and crew has been my favorite part of this production,” said sophomore Jesse Burnes, Osip. “Everyone wants to do the best they can and you can really tell how hard they work. It is fun to watch it day-after-day because it never gets old and is becoming so much better.”
This production is different from the others because of its smaller cast size and shorter script.
“The best part of this production is the witty writing,” said Sophomore A.J. Orth, Dobchinsky. “The part that I like the most are the over-exaggerated expressions and reactions that come at the end of each act and during the scenes.”
The show will run April 7-9 at 7 p.m.
