Freshman: Sam Stedry
First year on Student Council
Did you run for officer before you ran for rep?
No, I wanted to be a part of StuCo, but not a crazy amount. I didn’t want to be the president or anything.
Why did you choose to run for StuCo?
I wanted to be a part of something, but not have too huge of a responsibility. I wanted to have a say in something for the school.
What are you excited about on StuCo this year?
I am excited to get to meet more people throughout the school and to be involved in something.
What do you hope to do on StuCo this year?
I hope to get to know more people from other grades in the school and on StuCo.
What has your experience on StuCo been like so far?
It has been super fun, and all of the people on it seem fun. I like that we get to vote on things in the school.
What other activities do you do at East?
I am a part of the choir, and I am planning on doing track in the spring.
Sophomore: Isa Rogler
First year on Student Council
Why did you choose to run for StuCo?
I have a lot of good friends on it this year, and all of the other reps I have talked too told me that it was super fun and we got to get super involved. I thought that it would be a great way to get involved in something bigger for the school.
What are you excited about on StuCo this year?
I am going to be a part of the charity committee on StuCo, and I am really excited to try and come up with better ideas to raise more funds and to plan dances, drives and other fundraising events. I think it will be fun to work with everyone on StuCo to make these events happen.
What do you hope to do on StuCo this year?
I hope to become closer with the people on StuCo and learn more about East and its student body.
What has your experience on StuCo been like so far?
There were much more people than I thought there would be, and it was a little intimidating at first. I am excited to get to know everyone and become better friends with everyone throughout the year.
What other activities do you do at East?
I am on the JV volleyball team, and I also swim for the school.
Junior: Sean Battey
First year on Student Council
Why did you choose to run for StuCo?
I thought that it would be fun to start getting more involved in the school and have more of an opportunity to control what goes on in the school.
What are you excited about on StuCo this year?
I am excited to help to plan the events. Helping with Lancer Day was fun,and I am excited to help decide the theme for prom. I like getting to vote on different decisions. I think that it’s interesting that we have a say in what goes on in the school. I’m excited that my opinion is being heard in the school.
What do you hope to do on StuCo this year?
I really want to make sure that clubs are getting more recognition because I feel like a lot of people don’t know about all of the clubs offered at East. I think that clubs are a great way for people to find new friends and invest in their passions and figure out what they are motivated by.
What has your experience on StuCo been like so far?
The dynamic throughout all of StuCo has been interesting. So far for the juniors, it has been people coming up with different ideas for the school outside of StuCo,and then they come in and share it with us and we talk about it and go with it.
What other activities do you do at East?
I play lacrosse and I swim in the winter. I am also a part of Junior Board and IB.
Senior: Iris Hyde
First year on Student Council
Why did you choose to run for StuCo?
I chose to run for StuCo because I have gotten to know more and more people at East and have become more interested in getting involved in various activities. I thought that StuCo would be another way for me to get involved in the school and make sure that everyone has the best experience that they can in high school.
What are you excited about on StuCo this year?
I am really excited about our upcoming MORP dance, which is going raise money for the JCCB can drive.
What do you hope to do on StuCo this year?
I hope to get to know more of the student body and also learn more about the student leadership within East and how it shapes our high school experience.
What has your experience on StuCo been like so far?
It has been a lot of fun getting to work with other seniors on building our Lancer Day float, and getting to be involved and seeing more behind the scenes of activities that I have been participating in for the past three years.
What other activities do you do at East?
I am really involved in the local music scene, so I have done a lot of fundraising shows through East as well as doing more serious music related activities and fundraisers.
