Nine Athletes Sign To D1 Colleges

Yesterday afternoon, nine senior East athletes signed their letters of commitment to Division I colleges. The students represent captains and leaders on the football, tennis, swim, wrestling, basketball and lacrosse teams. Family and friends packed the stands to watch the students commit to a future in athletics.

Athletes:

Senior Kyle Ball — Football at Kansas State University

Senior Elizabeth Barnickel — Tennis at Air Force Academy

Senior Emma Braasch — Soccer at Creighton University

Senior Shelby Harvey — Softball at Ottawa University

Senior Barrett Cooper — Tennis at Colorado Christian University

Senior Rilye Fries — Swim at The University of Nebraska

Senior Devin Price — Football at Baker University

Senior Rachel Haskell — Rowing at Kansas State University

Senior Jenn Young — Lacrosse at Illinois Institute of Technology

Senior Elizabeth Barnickel signed with the Air Force Academy to play tennis. Barnickel was the state singles champion and led the girls' team to consecutive state titles.

During the signing ceremony, senior Creighton soccer commit Emma Braasch asked senior John Aliber to WPA.
