Searching for Chic

Etiquette

“New Spring Styles Available Daily” is written on the little chalkboard sign posted in front of the clothing boutique, Etiquette. While it’s currently located in Town Center, a second store will be opening in The Village soon. Etiquette offers a classy look that ranges from formal WPA dresses to the perfect necklace for your best friend’s birthday. Although there is a limited selection, each piece is worth snatching before it goes off the racks. I personally love the matching two piece outfits they have, which I can’t seem to find anywhere else. The limited supply is updated almost every week as new items come in. I found out about this store through their floral print filled Instagram which popped up on my “suggested” category. This Instagram account keeps you updated with new arrivals.  Commenting your size on the account for an item is a fast way to purchase an item. Etiquette will hold it for up to 24 hours. I have a slight addiction to social media, so being able to order things from just a comment on Instagram is very convenient. I would recommend this to someone looking for very charming seasonal outfits and the everyday preppy gal.

Garment District

Located by Power & Light, Garment District is quickly becoming a very popular spot for Kansas Citians. This very spacious building with large glass windows and a beaded chandelier includes a variety of boutiques that feed into it. This downtown spot offers a variety of alcoholic beverages for those 21 and over to have a drink and relax while shopping. Garment District, much like Etiquette, updates their customers on their new clothing and accessories through Instagram and Snapchat. They also have a website where all of the different boutiques can be found. One of my favorite finds has been a Kansas City shirt with a blue and yellow pennant on top, and a red and yellow pennant on bottom, representing the Chiefs and the Royals. I needed to add to my Kansas City shirt collection. Garment District has more of an indie style. Think Vanessa Hudgens- my former childhood obsession. But my favorite thing has to be that the clothing itself isn’t cheap looking and lasts for a long time.

Threshing Bee

Most known for carrying the popular “Made in KC” clothing, Threshing Bee is also home to five different boutiques, three of which include Adorn, Mended Wing and Tomboy. Each boutique that feeds into Threshing Bee has it’s own unique style. There’s a piece of clothing to fit everyone’s taste. I was immediately drawn in by the wide variety of KC pride clothing they had to offer, and that was only the first level of the building. The second floor consists of a light-filled room with dozens of brands. As I looked into the open space I saw styles to fit every girl’s need. Unique signs with different phrases were posted throughout the store for purchase. A sign reading  “Hello Beautiful” caught my eye, because it reminded me of something I saw on Pinterest, and who doesn’t love Pinterest? From the casual cowgirl boots to rompers for date night, Threshing Bee has everything.
