Schrock Happy with Senior Season Despite Injury

Two weeks ago, during the game against Shawnee Mission West, misfortune struck senior and starting quarterback John Schrock.

After the game, Schrock was diagnosed with a separated shoulder and a sprained AC joint. One out of the two doctors Schrock visited said he could be playing again within two weeks, allowing schrock to come back to play in the State tournament

Another visit to the doctors office confirmed Schrock’s fears. He had broken his collar bone, and would not be able to play again for six weeks, after the season would have ended.

“I had broke my collar bone sophomore year, so I knew what it felt like.” Schrock said, “I guess all I felt was disbelief.”

Past the initial shock of the injury, Schrock is content in a situation that would ruin the season for any other quarterback.

“I feel blessed for the 8 games I had, and that we could go a 7-1 record in them.” Schrock said. “God has a reason for everything, and he decided to take the ball away from me for the rest of the season.”

Schrock has the utmost confidence in fellow quarterback Robby Moriarty, and believes East will get a good seed for the state tournament.

“Robby can do great.” Schrock said. “The team will keep on rolling and we’ll get a good seed for state.”
