The school schedule has been rearranged during April to compensate for Kansas State Assessment testing which will be done in the library throughout the month. The school weeks are now one seven period followed by for block days.
The testing will be conducted in the library during all school hours. However it will be open for students before and after school and during seminar. These tests will be on math, reading, science(physical and life), and history/government(world and US) and will be taken by students in ninth through eleventh grade depending on what classes they are in and what tests they have previously taken.
Vice Principle Jeremy Higgins was in charge of orchestrating the testing this year and says that the test results are used by the state to measure student achievement.
“The KS assessments provide school personnel with important information pertaining to student achievement and progress in certain curricular areas.” said Higgins, “This then allows for discussion to take place regarding changes that should be implemented or areas/objectives/skills that should be focused on”.
