StuCo hosted its annual talent show which raised $560 for the Johnson County Christmas Bureau on Nov. 20.

According to an Emcee of the show, senior Evan Winden, although the event raised less this year than previous years, it was still successful.

“Overall I thought it ran really smoothly,” Winden said. “As an Emcee we did not have much of a plan, [we] made up everything on the spot and for what it was I think it went really smoothly. I think all the acts that we were able to attract were pretty successful.”

There were a total of 14 acts in the show including a rendition of “Old Town Road” on the xylophone by Associate Principal, Britton Haney, and his daughter as well as senior Addison Wiklund’s performance of “Hot Cross Buns” on the recorder. According to Wiklund, she originally decided to perform in the talent show as a fun thing to do with her friends. Even though her friends decided not to perform, she still wanted to.

“I was actually kind of surprised at how many people showed up just because it was like a random Tuesday,” Wiklund said. “I [was surprised by] how many people actually came and stayed the whole show.”

Junior Shannon Burns attended the talent show because she wanted to see all the talent East had and knew that she would be supporting a good cause.

“I thought that they had a really wide range of just different acts [and] people with different abilities,” Burns said. “And I thought it was really fun and it was really well put together.”
