Quarantine Picks: What to watch on Netflix

Thanks to the novel coronavirus, we now have more time than ever to dedicate to America’s favorite pastime: binge-watching. So curl up with your favorite blanket but this time, rather than pressing play on “Gossip Girl” or “Friends” for about the thousandth time, try something new.

To avoid the unproductive show search, I hand-picked three of my favorite shows for you entertaining your face-masked heads all the way through quarantine.

“All American”

Watch it. Binge it. Love it. If you don’t like this show, you’re probably twice as prone to obtaining the coronavirus — well, not really but we may have to rethink our friendship.

With a shiny new season right at your fingertips and a spunky, relatable 21st century-teen vibe, the show will provide a familiar sense of normalcy in watching the students of Beverly Hills High School obsess over football and attend school. We could all use a little bit of that right now, and so if you’re missing school, live vicariously through the Louis Vuitton-toting high school students in “All American.”

This show is so all-consuming that I honestly haven’t cleared up the mental space (or time) to watch it until now. Young robbers star in this riveting drama as they rob the Bank of Spain and let me tell you, I’m baffled that this show isn’t the newest teen craze. No other series will have you glued to the very tip of your seat with your mind constantly trying to crack The Professor’s master plan and figure out how he’ll dodge police force attempts and keep the heist going.

“Money Heist”

With lovable and complex characters that you’ll want to stay and get to know, it’s impossible to say no to just one more episode. It’s intriguing, addicting and has a good balance of light-heartedness — and will without a doubt get you thinking about constructing your own genius plan that’ll match the world’s greatest heist.

“Dynasty”

As a “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” lover, I’ve wanted to watch this soap opera since it was released to Netflix last year. “Dynasty” follows the Carringtons, one of America’s richest families, as they undergo continuous family drama and power struggles for control of the family business, Carrington Atlantic.

You’ll either root for or despise Fallon Carrington’s sharp-witted, diva personality as she fights for her place in the business world with snarky remarks and millions at stake. The Carringtons’ affluent lifestyle and the fabulous events they host put the show on-par with “Gossip Girl.” This show’s fun girl-boss vibe that empowers me even as I sit and watch from my bed.
