East football begins the postseason tonight against Lawrence High School. The game starts at 7 p.m. at SM North. The matchup is a neutral playoff game, but the location gives East a home advantage.
The Lancers completed the regular season undefeated, and broke a Sunflower League scoring record. Lawrence goes into the game 5-4. Three of their four losses came on the road.
The Lancers will have to stop Lawrence running back JD Woods. Woods averaged more than 200 yards per game in his last three starts. All of Lawrence’s 26 touchdowns have been rushing scores. On the other side, East quarterback Gunnar Englund has thrown 23 touchdowns this season.
“They’re able to play with anyone,” senior Sam Huffman said. “They have a lot of good athletes, and it will be a good challenge.”
