Members of the cross country team will be competing in the state meet tomorrow at Rim Rock Farm outside Lawrence against 11 other teams. The seven varsity girls qualified as a team at Regionals held at Lone Elm Park. Freshman John Arnspiger was the only boy to qualify individually.

“[The race] is at Rim Rock Farm,” senior Annie Kuklenski said. “We’ve already ran twice there this year so we’re very familiar with the course.”

According to Kuklenski, Rim Rock is challenging because of the many hills on the course. The team has been doing hill training at Loose Park, which has given them more confidence for the race.

For Arnspiger, the race will be especially challenging because he will not be running with his team.

“The race is going to be really hard for me because I usually pace myself with my team,” Arnspiger said. “I’ll find a person to run with, and hopefully I don’t pick the wrong person.”

Arnspiger will run at 10:30 a.m., and the girls’ team will run at noon. The team will be wearing new uniforms purchased for state.
