One of the most anticipated concerts of the summer/fall season is just around the corner. Buzz Beach Ball makes its way to Berkley Riverfront Park on Friday, September 27. Kansas City music lovers of all ages will flock to the spacious venue to enjoy a variety of alternative bands from Alt-J to Awolnation.
This is the eighth annual Buzz Beach Ball concert put on by KRBZ’s 96.5 the Buzz, excluding 2008 when there wasn’t a show. In past years headliners have included bands like Weezer, 311 and Foster the People. This year the headliner is the alt. rock band Phoenix, who are promoting their new album ‘Bankrupt!’. The French band, most famous for hits like “1901” and “Lisztomania”, will be performing at Buzz Beach Ball for the first time this year like many of the other featured bands.
Berkley Riverfront Park, located in greater downtown Kansas City, MO, overlooks the Missouri River where the sun sets the sky on fire behind the Kansas City skyline. The venue has two stages where the bands play– the main stage and the second stage. To make time for the 14-act lineup some of the bands are scheduled to play at the same time. However each act starts 30 minutes (then 45 as the night progresses) after the previous to ensure that no one has to miss their favorite band.
The concert starts off early at 2:30pm with Saints of Valory taking the second stage. As the afternoon goes on bands like Atlas Genius, Cage the Elephant and MSMR will make their appearances on both stages all leading up to Phoenix who takes the main stage at 10:45pm. Tickets are on sale now for $45. For directions to the park and and answers to other FAQ visit the official Buzz Beach Ball site here.
