Tonight the Lancers will be taking on the high-powered SM Northwest Cougars away from their home court.
This years’ Cougars aren’t like any of their teams in years past; they are 6-0 in league play, which included an impressive victory over Shawnee Mission South. It’s no question that they are of the top teams in the league, as they come off a nail biting win over an improving Lawrence Chesty Lions team.
In order to slow down the Cougars, the Lancers are looking to keep Keaton Cross and Brady Skeens, two talented seniors, out of transition. These two players have clocked up a large amount of points by quick transitions throughout the season.
“We need to keep them out of transition because that’s how they score a lot of their points,” said junior Gunnar Englund. “So if we just limit our turnovers and get back on defense we should be good.”
After losing two straight games to Olathe South and Olathe North, the Lancers feel that a win tonight against a high caliber team like the Cougars would put them back on track and give them something solid to build on.
Tip off is at 7 p.m. and the theme for the student section is 80s. Can’t make it to the game? Watch the broadcast here.
