Power Moves: Recently Power Life has become a popular workout place for SM East students

Sophomore Hallie Pfeiffer wakes up at 4:30 a.m. up to five times a week, eager to go to her 5:00 a.m. power sculpt class to get her day started before school. Pfeiffer never knows who she’s going to see in her class. She keeps it optimistic when she goes alone on who she’s going to see, which she prefers over going with people.

Powerlife is a fitness company known for heated workouts in balmy rooms around 92 degrees. Pfieffer goes to mainly the sculpt and barre classes.

A power sculpt class is a unique, upbeat and challenging class that combines power yoga, core training and cardio. The class is designed to strengthen yoga practice, improve heart health and burn calories, according to Power Life.

A power barre class is a different way of training, using a ballet barre that combines ballet, pilates and power yoga to spike your heart rate and attain a full body workout, according to Power Life.

Pfeiffer has run into many east students in her classes and even some of her friends’ moms—and that’s what she loves about it because she never knows who shes going to see.

“I like it when I go and see someone I haven’t seen in a while,”Pfeiffer said. “Or if it’s in the morning and you didn’t know one of your friends is booking a five a.m. It’s just a good community.”

Pfeiffer got into Power Life when one of her friends told her about it. They went to one class and she didn’t go back until this year, where she fell in love with early morning workouts. Pfeiffer did the 20/30 challenge, consisting of 20 classes in 30 days. By doing this, she was able to get her star on the wall and enter into a raffle to win a year of free classes.

Freshman Graham Delzer accompanies Pfieffer in most of her classes. They bond over what classes they like and schedule the next time they want to go.

Delzer started going to Power Life after dive and swim ended to keep up with doing something as a way to stay active. His favorite classes are also barre and sculpt and sometimes the hot flow + weights. He has completed around 50 classes in total.

“I love how I feel after,” Delzer said. “I don’t know why, but in winter when you go to a hot class and then walk outside, I just really like it.”

Delzer prefers to go with someone, but even if he goes alone, he always sees someone he recognizes, whether it’s a friend or even just a face he’s seen on social media.

Both of them love the workouts and have made an impact on others to start going, some of the instructors even know their names when they walk in making it a fun environment to be in.
