The boys varsity soccer team played Olathe East and the lancers won 3-1 at the SM North stadium.
In the first half, the game commenced with a quick goal from the Hawks, but junior Conor O’Toole struck back to tie the game 1-1 with a breakaway goal. Following this was was senior Kristian Jespersen who was able to find the back of the net on a penalty kick right before the end of the half. Finally, towards the middle of second half, senior Cooper McCullough was able to find another opening and breakaway goal.
“I got the ball at around half field and and I nutmegged the midfielder,” McCullough said. “Then [I] kept on dribbling all the way to the 18 yard box then scored near post.”
This Thursday was the first time the two teams have played since their loss to them last year when East’s winning streak was broken. This defeat was the first one in the past four years.
