News Brief: Debate Update 12/6

SME DEBATERS QUALIFY TO NATIONALS!
Congratulations to the teams of Mark Towster / Wil Kenney and Chris Carey / Michael Hill for qualifying to NCFL (National Catholic Forensics League) Nationals in Washington D.C over Memorial Day weekend this coming spring. Both teams went 4-1 and finished in the top 6 out of 35 teams at the Kansas City NCFL district tournament this Saturday at Blue Valley Southwest. All four of these debaters are juniors so qualifying to nationals is extremely exciting for them!

LAWRENCE FREE STATE- 2ND IN SWEEPSTAKES OUT OF 25 SCHOOLS! (We had the same number of overall wins as Blue Valley North, but they beat us on speaker points).

-Liam Murphy / Seth Myers- 4th place in the open division, advanced to quarterfinals
-Roberto Sada / Hayley Johnston- 3rd place in the JV division, advanced to semifinals
