News Brief: Debate Results from Nov. 5-7

The following is from debate coach Trey Witt:

KCKCC:
-Michael Kennedy / Eden McKissick-Hawley- 2nd Place out of 70 teams! Kennedy and McKissick-Hawley earned a TOC (Tournament of Champions) bid by advancing to finals! The TOC is a very competitive national circuit tournament hosted by the University of Kentucky in May. Teams must have 2 bids throughout the season in order to qualify. By making it to finals, Kennedy and McKissick-Hawley also qualified to DCI (the Debate Coaches’ Invitational), which will be hosted at Maize High School in January. This is an extremely impressive accomplishment for a team of sophomores!

-Wil Kenney / Mark Towster- 3rd Place, advancing to semifinals!
-Chris Carey / Michael Hill- 9th Place, advancing to octo-finals!
-Susie McClannahan / Anna Bernard- 9th Place, advancing to octo-finals! Bernard/McClannahan also earned their 1st DCI Bid by advancing to octos.

Blue Valley:
-Austin Miller / Alex Moskowitz- 4th Place in Varsity, advancing to quarterfinals
-Ann Schlotzhauer / Gabby Magalski- 4-1 in the Open Division, missed breaking on opposition record
-Dhruba Biswas / Michele White- 4-1 in the Novice Division, missed breaking on speaker points
-Matt Hanson / Max Werner- 3-2 in the novice division

SME Novice:
Teams who finished with a 5-0 Record:
