Some podcasts make you laugh, others teach you something new and some are simply there to keep you company through a long car ride.
No matter the type, podcasts have become a staple of everyday entertainment.
Over time, more and more people have started listening to podcasts, either incorporating them into their day-to-day routine or tuning in once a week with their friend on the latest episode of their new favorite podcast.
All kinds of people create podcasts, such as influencers, celebrities and even...
NFL football players — and their wives.
NEW HEIGHTS
When I first found out about Jason and Travis Kelce's podcast, “New Heights,” I was shocked. I wondered why two-star NFL players wanted to create a podcast.
Pressing play on their latest episodes, “Chiefs Brazilian Bummer", "Spitgate" and "Chiefs-Eagles showdown with Kevin Hart & Rob Riggle,” the brothers sounded excited and energetic, immediately pulling me in.
After the brothers kicked things off with their usual introductions, they then dove into a segment called "New News.” In this segment, they spoke about their opinion on how Chicago wanted to change the location of Soldier Field stadium and possibly renovate it.
The brothers said that even though it would be nice to renovate the stadium, the memories and history of the stadium are too valuable to tear it down. Their thoughts and opinions on this are valid and reasonable. I enjoyed how they covered the latest news at the beginning of their episodes. It adds a nice start.
The brothers then discussed the Chiefs ’loss on Sep. 5th after playing the Chargers in São Paulo, Brazil. Travis Kelce said that even though they lost, traveling there and playing in the stadium made it a unique way to play football.
As the podcast continues, words like football, defense and touchdown repeat through the Kelce brothers' verbiage.
Although their humor and excitement initially hooked me, the lack of entertainment value started to wear on me. While people have opinions, talking about football highlights for 30 minutes straight just isn't something I'd want a whole podcast to focus on.
But the podcast finally recaptured my attention 55 minutes into the episode when the brothers introduced actors Rob Riggle and Kevin Hart. They discussed their thoughts and opinions on who was going to win the upcoming Chiefs vs. Eagles game. Their funny jokes and interesting comments had me hooked on the podcast.
As the episode came to a close, I was left entertained and impressed. Although I did get bored towards the middle, the brothers' witty humor and guest stars kept me engaged until the end.
NOT GONNA LIE
As I was about to turn off my phone after finishing up the podcast, "New Heights” Jason Kelce commented on his wife having a podcast called "Not Gonna Lie.”
Surprised and curious, I searched up the latest episode of Kylie Kelce's podcast.
It was called, “Kylie and Wanda Skys on Welcome to NFL Wife Life, Wild Fan Request And Not Being A Cool Mom.”
In the episode, she talks about her journey of being an NFL wife while also navigating motherhood.
As the podcast began, it was calmer and more relaxing than the "New Heights podcast.”She spoke to me in a gentle tone, unlike the "New Heights” podcast, whose tone of voice was more exciting and humorous.
In the episode, Kylie Kelce shares parenting strategies she uses on her kids, such as working patiently with them and navigating all kinds of obstacles, such as big emotions, sharing and fairness.
She brought in award-winning comedian and actress Wanda Skyes on this episode to further discuss and share both of their parenting methods, such as parenting styles they agree on and funny experiences they both have had as a mother.
The podcast was entertaining, but after 25 minutes had passed, I noticed the lack of humor and energy it had compared to the "New Heights" podcast. Overall, it was still fascinating and fun to see what her podcast was like.
From football highlights to parenting perspectives, both podcasts bring unique stories to the table. At the end of the day, it's all about what you're in the mood for, whether it's laughs, insider stories or a glimpse into the life behind the spotlight.
