Netflix’s Most Binge Worthy Shows

There are few things better than coming home from a grueling seven hours at school and snuggling up with every blanket you own and turning on a good Netflix show — maybe a Starbucks hot chocolate in the dead of winter, but that’s about it. Most shows are what I like to call “one-timers,” you watch the series through and then you never look back. Lucky for me, Netflix is full of my favorite binge-worthy shows. Below are what I deem to be the best shows for wasting afternoons away.

The Office

“The Office” — ah, a classic. I couldn’t name a single person who doesn’t LOVE this show. Between the one-liners and quirky characters, this NBC sitcom wins the crown for being the most binge-worthy show of them all. I mean, there’s a reason I’ve watched it eight times — yes, I know that’s excessive. For those who haven’t been graced by television gods, “The Office” is a nine season, 201 episode series following the daily 9-to-5 life full of pranks, office romances and inappropriate behavior at a paper company called Dunder Mifflin — not to mention it’s a must-add to your Netflix queue.

Gossip Girl

“Gossip Girl” follows the extravagant and dramatic lives of elite teenagers in the Upper East Side (and Brooklyn — I didn’t forget about you, Humphrey family) in New York City while they party it up and attend prestigious private schools. Two of the main characters, Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) and Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively), are frenemies who bond over the same boys, bad habits and expensive lifestyles. “Gossip Girl” is my go-to when I want to dip my toes into the high class lives of Upper Eastsiders.

Parks and Recreation

Pawnee, Indiana. A city with a name like that sure sounds boring, but Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler) livens it up as a city employee in the parks and recreation department by hosting carnivals and revives town hall meetings. The series features witty characters and their love-hate relationship with their town and the people in it. I could watch the first four seasons without taking a break, but the final three become a little dry and repetitive after a few times watching them, but nonetheless it’s a great show to doze off to.

Black Mirror

“Black Mirror” is the most mind-boggling series on Netflix. Every episode has a different plotline and different cast, but all of the episodes feature a twisted, high-tech dystopian society. I like watching “Black Mirror” episodes more than once to catch the hidden messages I didn’t see the first time around. Created by Charlie Brooker, “Black Mirror’s” 19 episodes range from a social media controlled society to life in a slave-like competition show, and is preferred by me when I want to dive into a futuristic lifestyle.
