Ben Henschel
(bhenschel.com) Senior Ben Henschel only has a few weeks left on staff, but he's holding on to every minute. As the 2019-20 Kansas Student Journalist of the Year, and runner-up National Journalist of the Year, he designed the current Harbinger site and manages published stories, as well as writing in-depths, local news and op-eds. He also runs broadcasts with the team, taking point on anchoring most games. Henschel is also in charge of promoting published content on The Harbinger's social media platforms. »
Dalton Reck
Dalton Reck is a senior in his second year of staff as the Head Video Editor. Aside from Harbinger, he plays tennis for Shawnee Mission East, works on cars, and plays guitar. He is excited to help staffers grow, and he is excited to improve his skills as a staffer this year and learn as much about journalism as possible. »
Lucy Patterson
Lucy Patterson is a senior and going into her third year on The Harbinger staff as the print and online opinion section editor and a copy editor. Last year, Lucy won an excellence rating in sports writing at the JEA/NSPA conference in San Francisco in addition to her previous honorable mention rating at the 2016 convention in Indianapolis. Lucy also sits on the Quill and Scroll Journalism Honor Society national advisory board. Outside of the J-Room, Lucy serves as Co-President of The East Fund Student Ambassadors, is a Co-Captain of the Varsity swim team, a S.H.A.R.E chair and involved in the International Baccalaureate program. Lucy is a lover of sunny days, La Croix and mindless reality tv. In her limited spare time, Lucy can often be found jamming to throwback music with friends or taking Snapchats with her cat Simba. »
