The East choirs’ annual Holiday Concert takes place tonight, Wednesday, Dec. 4, in the Dan Zollars Auditorium. The concert will start at 7 p.m. and will feature Chambers, Choraliers, Varsity Choir, Chansonettes and Concert Choir.
At the concert, the choirs will perform holiday songs chosen by Choir Director Ken Foley. This is the second concert of the year for the choirs at East.
“Tonight is one of our community’s favorite concerts because it brings in the holiday season no matter what they celebrate,” Foley said. “I’m looking forward to a packed house and our kids singing their hearts out.”
Chambers Choir is a group of 24 singers that includes 12 boys and 12 girls. These singers are selected after a selective audition process held at the end of the previous school year. Choraliers are the largest of the five choirs and includes 163 of the experienced upperclassmen singers. Varsity Choir and Chansonettes are the two gender choirs. The Concert Choir is made up of freshmen in their first year of choir.
“It’s like a really fun concert to be at because everyone loves Christmas music,” senior Danya Issawi said.”We’re going down in the aisles and singing which is more personal, so all around, it’s a more laid back and personal type of concert.”
