Link Crew applications for the 2019-2020 school year are due March 21. Link Crew is a group of upperclassmen who are in charge of joining the incoming freshmen on their first day of school at East. On the first day they give the incoming freshmen class a tour of the school, teach them the school song and introduce them to other Lancer traditions.
Applications are outside of teacher Hannah Pence’s Room 412 and are due no later than 3 p.m. on Thursday, March 21. The application submitted should consist of a cover letter and resume.
“Being a Link leader looks great for my resume and gets me service hours, but I also like talking to the freshmen and giving advice,” junior and Link leader Chloe Sowden said.
In years past Link leaders would be assigned a seminar to lead, but since this year seminars changed to alphabetical order by grade, that is no longer a Link leader task. This means that their job will consist of orientation day and checking on their freshmen throughout the year.
Freshmen Orientation day is on Aug. 12 and the Link Crew dance will be after the first full week of school.
The seminar tasks discouraged IB students to sign up last year because they had Theory of Knowledge class during seminar, however now that they have changed the schedule IB upperclassmen can sign up.
“In the past Link Crew leaders have lead discussions during seminar, this year was the first year they didn’t,” Sowden said.
The first dates of Link Crew are the April Development Day that has two sessions to choose from. Following those dates are the August training days on Aug. 1 and Aug. 2.
