At 2 pm this afternoon, 16 Latin students will attend the annual Kansas Junior Classical League State competition at Lawrence High School. The competition will include reading, translating and performing contests, along with dodgeball games, art contests and other events. The participating schools will combine their scores to see who wins the overall competition.
“This only happens once a year, so the kids who go always look forward to it,” Latin teacher Dr. Anasthesia Worley said. “It gives them a chance to challenge themselves and build on their base.
The following 16 students entered the competition by paying to take a series of tests. Their scores and placings will be revealed at the competition tonight.
