This past Friday, Feb. 7 and Saturday, Feb. 8, the Lancer Boys’ Swim and Dive team won the Sunflower League meet, hosted by SM West at the Olathe East pool. SM East finished with a total of 409 points, winning the League record for most points scored by over 50 points. Olathe East finished second with a total of 274 points, a 135-point deficit from first to second place.
Lancer swimmers also won four individual event League records: 50-yard free, 100-yard breast, 200-yard free relay and 400-yard free relay.
“It’s a pretty exciting feeling knowing that we dominated all the other teams in the Sunflower League,” sophomore swimmer Tom Peters said.
The next meet for the Lancers is State. The meet will be held at the Hummer Sports Park Capitol Federal Natatorium in Topeka, Kan. next Friday, Feb. 21, and Saturday, Feb. 22.
“We are just looking to do our best,” junior Patrick Hornung said. “Hopefully that will end up being good enough to win the state championship.”
