This year’s first football game won’t be celebrated in the usual fashion, instead the Lancer Day Parade and pep rally will be two weeks later on September 20th. The reason for this change is that the first football game is against Leavenworth at Leavenworth, making it difficult for the players to attend Lancer Day. Administration has decided to postpone Lancer Day until the first game at home.
This year’s theme is “Lancers Around the World”, so each class, club or group can choose a different culture or country to design their float around.
“The theme for Lancer Day is ‘Lancers Around the World’, because there are a lot of options and its pretty easy,” Junior Class President Sydney Bahr said.
Even though the festivities are later than usual, Lancer Day will remain the same as it has been for years, with the customary parade down Mission Road to Prairie Village Shopping Center, where the pep rally is held.
