Lancer Dancers Unveil New Hip Hop Dance

The varsity Drill Team will debut their award-winning hip hop routine this Tuesday, February 10 at the 7 p.m. basketball game. The team has strived to keep the theme a secret until their performance. In the past month, the team has attended two competitions and won multiple awards including a choreography award and a first place trophy.

“I’ve been really impressed with the team’s confidence level and how seasoned they look when performing the dance, despite the difficulty level,” head coach Alexis Close said.

Close brought in choreographers from neighboring dance studios to teach the girls’ routine. These new choreographers brought along new tricks and a variety of hip hop styles.

“They really own this dance,” said Close. “And I think when a team is that invested, the audience becomes invested, too.”
