Last Thursday, the varsity Lancer Dancer drill team traveled to Orlando, FL. for the national competition. They placed 9th in the hip-hop category, and 5th in the jazz category.
According to the team, competition was tougher than usual at nationals this year.
“The competition gets harder each year, teams really step up their game, just like we did,” senior Lauren Blackburn said.
Senior Brooke Erickson is proud of the teams’ result.
“Nationals is a compilation of all the best teams in the entire nation, and everyone brings their a-game,” Erickson said. “I know we’re incredibly proud to be able to call ourselves fifth and ninth overall in the nation.”
After competition was finished, the team took a “fun day” to Universal Studios.
“It was awesome, there was a lot to see,” Blackburn said. “Harry Potter world was lit. It definitely helped us further bond as a team after the competition.”
