Nail art swept the female nation last year, and finally came to Kansas City over the summer. Trends come from the runway and trickle to the street, but often with beauty trends it is the other way around. Nail art has always been a fun side hobby for some, but the catalyst in starting this trend was Kleur Nails in southern California. Their estheticians are true artists with their crazy designs and expensive manicures. Each manicure was custom to the client, and soon, artist nail salons were popping up all over. So, these past few Fashion Weeks around the world in New York City, London, Paris and Milan featured nail designs from fun to modern on their models.
Most nail polish brands (O.P.I., Butter London, Essie) release a collection of four to six new nail polish colors per season, and typically follow the trends. This Spring, Essie’s collection is called “Hide & Go Chic” and features six spring-tastic colors: a beautiful blue “hide & go chic,” a pastel mint “fashion playground,” light pink “romper room,” sandy pink “spin the bottle,” neon watermelon “style hunter” and sky blue “truth or flare.” Each name is fun, flirty, and could be the sole reason one would purchase the polish. They even have a seperate resort collection for Spring travelers. They come up with their own colors, as well as pulling from the runway to be trendy.
The trendy nail polishes for Spring 2014 are embellished white, metallic, stripe details, sandy light brown, pastels and neons.
