Bollywood was announced as the official theme for the Homecoming dance, on Oct. 3. Bollywood is equivalent to India’s Hollywood. The idea was chosen from the student body’s ideas, which were narrowed down and voted on by the Student Council (STUCO) reps at their annual STUCO retreat.
This is a special year for the homecoming dance because it will be held in the gym instead of the cafeteria due to the construction.
“We are really excited to be in the gym this year because it will allow us to make the decor much bolder,” Student body president Kyle Baker said.
Bolder and bigger decorations are the goals for this year’s dance. Treasurer Taylor Sawalich says to expect “jewel tones in the design through tapestries and fabrics, and fun lighting through the lanterns.”
If that reason alone isn’t enough to get a date and come to East at 8 on Saturday night, Baker adds, “We are in the works of having cultural elements like a Henna Station.”
