What it means and how it would impact you:
Originally introduced in the 2011 session, the bill would increase testing and then evaluate a student’s progress. An intervention system would be established in apprehension of failing to reach testing goals. A new component of the bill, added in the 2012 session, adds a more concrete consequence to poor performance on these tests. Upon failing the third grade literacy proficiency test, the student would be held in grade three until they passed the exam.
