The boys’ and girls’ bowling team set their season goals high. Despite losing a few good seniors boys from the past year like Brandon Shatto and Will Patrick, they believe they have a chance of being better than the last year. Their main goal is to do well in the Sunflower League, although State isn’t out of the question. The team is set on making sure at least a few team members qualify for state. One team member to keep an eye on will be Kyle Winston.
“He had a very good year last year,” Senior Matt Terry said. “He will definitely be one of the senior leaders on the team.”
Other team members who are expected to do well include senior Graham Walter and sophomore Mike Thibodeau. A member of the girls’ bowling team who is expected to be successful is Dee Dee Guthrie. In order to be successful, the bowling team cannot only succeed individually but must have good scores as a team. To meet their goal of winning the Sunflower League, they will have to beat one of their highest competitors: Shawnee Mission Northwest. Northwest is known to have a very talented team and managed to take the league title last year.
“I think that the key to our success this season is going to be our leadership,” Guthrie said, “I’m excited to work hard and see what we can do and it would be great to get fans out there to support us.”
