On Lancer Day, the day many East students claim as their favorite holiday, varsity football fell to Lawrence High School 45-14. The date of Lancer day is based on when East’s first home football game is, which this year was Sept. 16 at Shawnee Mission North. Many fans chose to wear jerseys sold by the student store during the week and pep execs wore striped overalls. Going into the game Lawrence was 1-1 and East was 0-2. Lawrence was the first to score a touchdown in the first half and soon after senior CJ Leonard scores a touchdown to tie up the game 7-7. The Lions gained a lead by the end of the first half with a score of 19-7. The Lancer Dancers and band performed a piece called “Dreams Come True” for the halftime performance. Leonard scored once again in the second half but not enough to catch up to Lawrence’s 45 points.

Their next game is on Friday, Sept. 30 at 7 p.m. at the North Stadium, the Homecoming Game.
