Gallery: Varsity Football Falls to Gardner Edgerton 63-32

In the team’s first game of the season, varsity football lost to Gardner Edgerton at Gardner 63-32 Friday night. Senior CJ Leonard scored the first touchdown for East in the first quarter off of a pass by quarterback senior George Kopp. Junior Jake Miller intercepted the ball for a pick six in the first half. With less than 15 seconds left in the first half, junior Andres Driver scored a touchdown off of Kopp’s pass. Gardner scored 35 points in the first half and 28 in the second. In the second half of the game for East, senior Dillon Mong caught a long touchdown pass from Kopp. For East’s final touchdown, Kopp kept the ball and ran it in himself.

The next varsity football game is on Friday, Sept. 9 at 7:00 p.m. The game will be played against Olathe East at CBAC Field.
