Gallery: Varsity Boys Basketball Falls to SM South 31-63

On Friday, Feb. 27., senior Stephen Hlobik received two direct technical fouls, resulting in his ejection from the game and will not play in the next playoff game against Blue Valley North. The SM East Lancers lost to the SM South Raiders 63-31 in the last game of the season. During the first quarter, the Lancers scored a total of eight points. In the second quarter, the Lancers only scored an additional three points which were scored by junior Brooks Dillon. 

After halftime, the Lancers came out stronger, scoring a total of 16 points in the third quarter with three 3-pointers coming from senior Vince Kopp, another 3-pointer from Quentin Ochs, and two layups from sophomore Cannon Zubeck and junior Brooks Dillon. Three minutes into the third quarter, Stephen Hlobik received the technical fouls after getting into an altercation with an SM South player. The SM East Lancer student section received a technical foul as well for violating the bench/spectator conduct rules established by KSHSAA. Entering the fourth quarter, the Lancers were trailing behind 26 points with the score of 53-27. Senior Trey Pendleton scored four more points throughout this quarter and the final score was 63-31.

The next boys’ varsity basketball game will take place at Blue Valley North at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Mar. 4.
