Shawnee Mission East’s “boyband”, the Whips, drew in about 60 students and adults to the Roxy, a bar and grill, to watch juniors Aidan Connelly, Miles Patterson, Vincent Lee, Quinn Cosgrove, sophomore from Scion Anna McQueeny, and senior Max Indiveri of Blue Valley North play. Playing favorites such as “Can’t Stop” by the Red Hot Chili Peppers or “Hotel California” by the Eagles, they riled the crowd up for about two hours. This being one of the Whip’s first real shows, they made sure to be prepared. Practicing almost every day the week or two before the show ensured their success. As proof, after watching two hours of the Whip’s, the crowd chanted for an encore which was swiftly delivered in the form of “This Love” by Maroon 5. The song is of significant importance since it was the first song the Whips (then just Connely, Patterson, Cosgrove and Lee) had ever learned as a group.
