Gallery: Sophomore Boys Basketball Defeats SM West 79-28

The sophomore boys basketball team defeats SM West at their season opener on Saturday, Dec. 14. In the first quarter the Lancers scored 20 points and held the SM West Vikings to two points. The Lancers scored another 19 points against the Vikings going into halftime. After halftime, the Lancers scored an additional 40 points; 26 in the third quarter, and 14 in the fourth quarter. In total, the team ended the game with 79 points with 16 out of 24 free throws and 13 fouls. Sophomore Chase Jehle led the team in points with a total of 18, following sophomore Ben Alt with 16 points in total. The Lancers went on to defeat Blue Valley North 64-49 on Monday, Dec. 16, their team record now sits at 2-0.

The Lancers will travel to Lawrence for their next away to play their away game on Dec. 19 at 7 p.m. against the Lawrence High School Lions.

Going into her second year on staff, Junior Annie Trenkle is a photographer for the Harbinger. Outside of taking photos she is a part of the IB program and her favorite class in school is AP Physics. Annie’s outside of school activities include soccer, tennis, and basketball. She is also the chair of Harvesters Give Lunch and Wayside Waifs SHARE organizations. After spending hundreds of hours on Photoshop, junior Tyler Russell is pumped to continue his journey on The Harbinger as an Assistant Photo Editor. On a typical day, you’ll find him helping the other photographers or scrambling to finish student life photos on time while editing in the library. When Tyler isn’t slouched on the library spinny chair, you’ll find him playing tennis, baking anything he can find on Pinterest, or searching through Disney artifacts. Despite the stressful moments, Harbinger has become a family to look forward to every day. »
