The East boys’ soccer team beat Blue Valley 3-0 in the Regional championship game at the Blue Valley Stadium.
Early in the first half senior captain Dylan Martz shot across the goal, putting the ball into the bottom, right corner of the net. The goalie didn’t even have time to dive for it. Next, it was senior captain Noah Eidemiller who took a line drive shot into the right corner of the goal. At the end of the half, senior Will Orth punched a right-footed shot through the goalie’s hands, putting it in the upper left hand of the net. The Lancers went into the half up three on the BV Tigers.
In the second half, the Lancers focused on defense. All they had to do was maintain their lead to win the game. The Tigers made more pushes at the Lancer goal in the second half, but were never able to find the back of the net. The Lancers won the Regional championships for the second year in a row.
The Lancers’ victory over Blue Valley High School will advance them to the next round of the 6a Sub-State tournament on Tuesday. The location and time have not yet been announced.
