On Tuesday, March 28, the Shawnee Mission School District held its annual band festival. The band festival took place in the auditorium at East and included all five symphonic bands from all the SMSD high schools. The bands met to showcase what each group has been working on this year to the other schools, students and parents. Each high school performed two songs. The SM North Symphonic Band played “March of the Belgian Paratroopers” and “Symphonic Dance No. 3 ‘Fiesta.'” The SM East Symphonic Band played “Arabesque” and “Song for Lyndsey.” The SM South Symphonic Band played “Noisy Wheels of Joy” and “Armenian Dances.” The SM West Wind Ensemble played “Pas Redoublé Op. 56” and “Fate of the Gods.” The SM Northwest Symphonic Band played “Flight of the Piasa” and “Arsenal.”

The next band performance will be on April 26 for the East Area Band Concert.
