Every Wednesday after school, Ping Pong Club meets at the end of the fourth floor hallway for about an hour to play a few games of ping pong. Senior Jackson Burrows is the Ping Pong Club president.
Ping Pong Club was revived back in 2021, when then freshman Burrows and his brother and East alumni Connor Burrows noticed the ping pong tables in the hallway. They came in on weekends over a period of a couple weeks to fix the tables. One of the tables works well, but the other table has to be set up carefully.
Each week about three to four players show up and when there are more than four they usually get out the second ping pong table. If there are four players, they usually play doubles or singles and if there are between two to three players, they will do singles. Each week about three to four players show up. Sometimes they will also play a variation of ping pong called Around The World, where multiple players rotate around the table as the ball is hit across.
While seniors Max Hruda, Max McMahon and Burrows attend the club almost every week there are also members that come every couple weeks as well. At least one of seniors Tucker Eddy, Andrew Levin and Lincoln King are there every couple weeks.
“I just think it’s a lot of fun to kind of goof around [at Ping Pong Club],” Burrows said.
As a fourth year harbinger staffer, senior Mason Sajna is excited to be a leader on staff this year as a Video Editor, Photo Mentor and Equipment Manager. When he isn’t in the J room editing a video or trying to find some tripod piece, Mason is running as a varsity track and cross country runner and is in five AP classes. When things finally slow down, Mason likes to spend his free time with his friends or just hang out at home. »
