East’s Theatre Department puts on their final play of the year, The Government Inspector. The play is about a small Russian town that learns of an inspector coming to observe their government. So the whole town gets really paranoid and makes assumptions about who the inspector is. The whole time they think that this mysterious, unemployed man – played by junior Andrew Beasley – is the inspector, and they give him everything he wants. He falls in love with the mayors daughter – played by junior Duri Long. The mayors wife – played by senior Emma Marston – falls all over him too. The mayor – played by senior Nathan Simpson – tries to give him everything he needs to make his stay more enjoyable. But in the end their efforts are wasted when Beasley’s character splits and the inspector really turns out to be an uneducated doctor – played by senior Riley Watson. The whole play was witty and funny, and reviewed by the East students as, “The theater’s best play yet!” If you missed the show check out our photo gallery below to see the action.
