Gallery: Girls Varsity Soccer Defeats Olathe South 1-0

The girls varsity soccer team defeated the Olathe South Falcons 1-0 on April 29 at the Shawnee Mission Soccer Complex. The game started at 7 p.m. and the Lancers started with the ball after the kickoff. Junior Kate Lucas scored the only goal for the Lancers 30 minutes into the first half with an assist from junior Morgan Beedle. Lucas shot the goal from 40 yards away. During halftime, the Lancers had concessions ranging from Skittles to Chick-fil-A sandwiches; as well as other snacks and drinks. During the second half, the Lancers attempted to score four times, but the Falcon’s goalie blocked them. Sophomore Bella Tilgner, the Lancers’ goalie, stopped five shots from the Falcons during the second half. The game ended with both teams shaking hands, and the Lancers gave the crowd a bow to conclude their win during the game. 

The girls varsity soccer team has their next game on Tuesday, May 6 against Lawrence High School at 7:00 p.m. at Lawrence High School. The team's record is now 9-2-0 with five games left before the playoffs begin.

When she isn’t struggling to write a coherent caption for a gallery or losing sleep over making someone’s page art, she is helping to plan an International club meeting, making costumes for a play or musical, or trying to perfect an AP Art project. »

Going into her second year on staff as an assistant photo editor, junior Ava Towner is so excited for this school year. Outside of Harbinger, Ava is involved in tennis and SHARE at East. When Ava is not taking pictures, you can find her hanging out with friends, nannying, walking her dogs, cramming for an AP class, or shopping. »

Starting her second year on The Harbinger as a Staff Photographer, junior Vivien Glenski can’t wait for this year and all the opportunities that come with it! When she is not out taking pictures at sports complexes 20 minutes away, making galleries or writing captions she enjoys hanging with her family and friends, playing tennis, nannying and going to powerlife. Vivien is also involved in SHARE and tennis here at East. »
