With just five games left of the season, SM East girls varsity soccer defeated the Olathe North Eagles 2-1 on Thursday. The Eagles scored 25 minutes into the game, making the score 1-0. Junior Kate Lucas scored a few minutes later with two minutes left in the first half. Lucas dribbled through the middle of the attacking third and scored from just outside the 18-yard box. The score was tied 1-1 at halftime. Senior Sylvia MohrSting headed the ball for a goal, assisted by junior Natalie Scobie 12 minutes into the second half, making the score 2-1. Sophomore Bella Tilgner had a shutout for the rest of the game with a few saves. The final score was 2-1 with the Lancers defeating the Eagles.
The girls varsity soccer team has their next game on Tuesday, May 6 against Lawrence High School at 7 p.m. at Lawrence High School.
