Gallery: Girls Varsity Basketball Falls to SM South 44-38

In a 6-point game, the girls varsity basketball team fell to east rival team SM South Raiders 44-38 last Friday, Jan. 14. Fans were dressed as SEC Game Day and filled the bleachers at South. During the first quarter, the team’s lead was back and forth and the first quarter ended with the Lancers behind 8-7. The Raiders increased their lead during the second quarter and the Lancers were down going into the third quarter of the game. Making a comeback, the Lancers started scoring and ended the third quarter trailing 30-26. With two minutes left in the game, sophomore Abigail Long makes 2 free throws after being fouled, making the score 42-38. Unable to take the lead, the Raiders ended the game in the lead by 6 points.

The girls varsity basketball team’s next game will be played on Tuesday, Jan. 18 at 5:30 p.m. at Blue Valley North.

As a fourth year harbinger staffer, senior Mason Sajna is excited to be a leader on staff this year as a Video Editor, Photo Mentor and Equipment Manager. When he isn’t in the J room editing a video or trying to find some tripod piece, Mason is running as a varsity track and cross country runner and is in five AP classes. When things finally slow down, Mason likes to spend his free time with his friends or just hang out at home. »
