Gallery: Girls Varsity Basketball Defeats Lawrence Free State 53-37

Senior varsity girls basketball players prepared for their last home game on Feb. 17 — Senior Night — against the Lawrence Free State Firebirds. They wore matching pink shirts with each of their names on the back, the seniors shared anxious smiles as they passed the ball around with the JV team. Stepping into the game Junior Lauren Mercer scored the first point, winning her team the 2-point lead, and keeping that spot all throughout the game. Ending the game 53-37, they smiled and hugged each other, as did fans in the court and stands. After their win, seniors Sydney Eck, Fina Kessler, Grace Sharkey, Paige Stanfield and Talia Augustine were recognized for senior night and were each walked by their families.

The next girls’ varsity basketball game will take place at SM West High School at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 20.

Entering her first year on Harbinger, you may find Liv armed with a camera and questionable amounts of Taco Bell. This sophomore photographer and videographer can usually be found on the lacrosse field or golf course. When not capturing people at East, she’s probably thinking about Chipotle or her next shot, either with a camera or a driver. »

Tagging on to the Harbinger staff as a sophomore, this will be Bella Thompson's first year as a photographer.
