Gallery: Girls JV Basketball Defeats SM South 39-31

The Lancers defeated the SM South Raiders 39-31 in their last game of the season on Feb. 28. Freshman Darcy Kroening led the team by scoring 18 points, followed by freshman Audrey Rose with eight points.

Neither team scored more than 20 points in a quarter throughout the game. The Lancers scored 18 points in the fourth quarter, making it their highest-scoring quarter. The Lancers were up 10-2 by the end of the first quarter and maintained their lead with a score of 13-8 by half-time.

During the break, the JV Lancer Dancers performed their “Gameday” routine. They used pom-poms, signs and facial expressions to engage with the crowd during their performance. The dance lasted 10 minutes before both teams could get back onto the court and warm up again.

Throughout the second half, both teams made multiple defensive stops, continuing the low scoring. By the end of the third quarter, the Lancers were still up 21-19, with only a slight lead. The Raiders were running out of time and fouled the Lancers six times, resulting in nine free throws made by the Lancers in the fourth quarter. In the end, the Lancers won 39-31 against the Raiders.
