Gallery: Friday Night Lights Football Scrimmage

Friday Night Lights started off the Lancer football season, with scrimmages of kids ranging from 6-12th grade. There was over 200 kids spanning five different teams, the scrimmages commenced over two hours on Aug. 30, 2024. This is the first time Friday Night Lights has occurred in three years since the past two years had been canceled due to heat. All the teams scrimmaged anywhere from 20-45 minutes. Before varsity and junior varsity scrimmaged, there were performances by the SM East Lancer Dancers, marching band and cheer team. During the scrimmages, the players executed plays as directed by the coaching staff. The scrimmages served as a controlled practice environment, helping the players to receive repetitions and criticism to be prepared for their first game in the future.

The varsity lancer football team’s first game is scheduled on Sept. 6 against Lawrence Free State at 7 p.m. at the Lawrence Free State stadium.
