In their final game of the season, the freshman football team defeated the SM Northwest Cougars 15-6. Both teams struggled on offense, with a score of 0-0 until late in the first half. With under a minute left the Cougars blocked a punt and recovered the ball inside the ten-yard line. Two plays later, the Cougars scored a touchdown but missed the two point attempt, making the score at half 6-0. The Lancers scored their first points of the game with three minutes left in the third quarter on a touchdown run by freshman Henrik Hardy. Early in the fourth quarter the Lancers scored again on a 1-yard touchdown run by freshman Tommy Burgess. Burgess ran into the endzone again on the 2-point conversion attempt, giving the Lancers a 15-6 lead. In the final three minutes of the game freshman Lewis Wantland intercepted the SM northwest quarterback’s pass twice to seal the victory for the Lancers. This win makes the freshman team’s final record 6-2.
